[attr="class","adrianscroll"]A wild pokemon rummaged through the shrubs in the distance, terrorizing a few oddish and hoppip that it alone might be able to plunder the assortment of berries thriving upon the dense cluster of flora. As it began shoveling berry after berry into its gullet, Adrian managed to sneak up to it relatively undetected, brandishing a fist clenched around a poke ball. As the tossed it upwards and it erupted into a ray of light, the pokemon jerked upright, eyeing Adrian skeptically.[break][break]

As vileplume emerged from the poke ball, the hakamo-o stared it down and began to clang its scales together, its sharp movements slowly causing every individual scale to rise and fall in tandem, causing a chorus of clanging that eventually grew loud enough that Adrian didn't notice the pokemon's own cry as it lunged forward at Rover. "Dodge it," he warned his pokemon, but instead it took a direct hit from a luminescent claw.[break][break]

"Growth!" Although the sun was still partially obscured by errant clouds, it gave Rover enough sustenance to reinvigorate itself, granting it greater power and even a subtle size increase. At this the hakamo-o seemed provoked into lashing out, once more coming in for an attack, but failing to connect as vileplume began to speed up in the sunlight as the errant clouds blew in the wind.[break][break]

"Poison Powder," he commanded Rover while the hakamo-o rushed in out of frustration, receiving a mouth full of volatile pollen that caused it to shudder, but it was not entirely without recourse. Increasingly irate, the hakamo-o raised its dominant arm skywards and knocked Rover over backwards, before following up with a triumphant roar. Rover was not able to upright himself either, as the weight of his now enlarged petals kept him grounded.
Adrian grabbed for its poke ball, returning it before sending out another pokemon of his.[break][break]

"Howitzer, go!" A mass of fur and fang tumbled out onto the field from the poke ball's radiant outburst, barking excitedly as it took to the battle in earnest, sizing up its opponent. As it raised a paw to walk forward, the hakamo-o grit its teeth, bellowing at his arcanine. As it challenged the canine blindly, it found itself outmatched in terms of speed, with Howitzer deftly maneuvering to its flank and putting foot to hind as it sent hakamo-o careening skyward with a hefty kick.[break][break]

Despite the well placed attack the hakamo-o still managed a balanced landing, at which point it was beset by an irritated Howitzer. But this time the wild pokemon was able to guard itself, bringing its protective scales before itself and to the pursuant arcanine, bringing them to a stalemate. Snarling at the dragon, Howitzer managed to wrest the pokemon's scaled arm into its mouth, attempting to crunch through them. There was little impact however, and the hakamo-o swiftly rebuked with a draconic claw directly against Howitzer's muzzle.[break][break]

His arcanine backed off, weary to close the gap between them, but unrelenting. As the hakamo-o pushed forward, Howitzer loosed a jet of flame that enveloped it, until its silhouette came crashing through the fire and struck his arcanine all the same. As it forced its opponents to recoil backwards, the hakamo-o staggered, struggling to stand up. Adrian eyed the pokemon curiously, assessing its movements. It was definitely beginning to succumb to the poison...[break][break]

On cue, he prepared an unused poke ball, considering his options. "Bait it around with your speed," he decided. As Howitzer began to circle around the hakamo-o with its extreme speed, the pokemon seemed to grow dizzy, but reluctant to give up its advantage. It lunged forward, missing its target, and being countered in the process. As it was knocked back into the ring Howitzer's blurred image was forming, Adrian lobbed a poke ball towards it, landing it securely on its head by chance.[break][break]
